Cosmology
The Claim
The book's cosmology does not do modesty. The physical universe is at least four quadrillion years old, it says — formed from colliding IS-BE-created universes, preceded by an era of "magical illusions" that is the source of fairy-tale mythology. Time is an arbitrary measure of motion through space; space is created by an IS-BE imagining location; there are as many universes as there are IS-BEs to imagine them. The universe keeps expanding because "energy can be created, but not destroyed." [CLAIMED.]
And the motive holding it all together: boredom. Omniscient beings, the book says, invent games to escape it — pretending not to know, getting trapped in their own mazes, enduring "pain, suffering, stupidity, privation" just to play. "One could say that the entire physical universe is made of unadmired illusions."
The Verdict
case closedFour quadrillion versus 13.8 billion. That is not a rounding error; it is six orders of magnitude — a million-fold miss against measured cosmology, from multiple independent lines of evidence. A prediction that far off is not a near-miss; it is a failed prediction, and I stamp it as one. The rest of the file — imagined space, created energy, boredom as the cosmic engine — is metaphysics, and I leave it open as metaphysics: interesting, untestable, unproven. But the number was checkable, it was checked, and it failed. A scorecard that will not record a miss is a souvenir, not an instrument. CASE CLOSED on the age. The poetry survives; the physics does not. What do you think? *wink*
